The
Director

David T. Vickerman is in his fifth year as Director
of Bands at Lodi High School. From 2002 - 2003, he held the position of
Music Director at Hilmar High School in Hilmar, California. In
the month of June, 2002, Mr. Vickerman graduated from Claifornia State
University Stanislaus with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education.
he attended University of Illinois Urbaba Champaign for the first two years of
his college career before transferring to CSU Stanislaus.
In the summer
of 2000, Mr. Vickerman was one of ten college students selected to participate
in the "The Art of Wind Band Conducting Workshop" working with H. Robert
Reynolds. For the past two summers, he was worked with Michael Haithcock
at the University of Michigan "Energize" conducting symposium as well as with
Jerry Junkin at the University of Texas just this past year. Mr.
Vickerman has served as the Student conductor for the CSU Stanislaus
Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band and Brass Ensemble as well as Rehersal
Conductor for the CSU Stanislaus Symphony Orchestra.
In addition to
his duites as a conductor, he is also an acctive arranger. Two years ago,
he arranged "Music from Sweeney Todd" by Stephen Sondheim for wind band with the
compser's consent. This year he will be arranging "Green" by Michael torke
for wind band with the premiere happening sometime in the Spring.
Three
years ago, Mr. Vickerman received the Gilbert t. Freitas award from CMEA Bay
Section for "Oustanding Achievement in Musical Education". He also created
and maintained a local professional chamber winds group, The Lodi Chamber Winds,
and is still their artistic director and conductor.
Mr. Vickreman's
professional affiliations include: Music Educator's National Conference (MENC),
California Music Educator's Association (CMEA), International Association of
Jazz Educators (IAJE), College Band Directors National Assocaition (CBDNA),
Conductor's Guild, California Band Director's Association (CBDA), Northern
California Band Association (NCBA), San Joaquin Music Educators Association and
Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia National Music
Fraternity.
